A Letter to Aggies Invent: Sports Conference

Being a business student requires good people skills. Interestingly enough, even though we are required to have these skills, I find it puzzling that problem solving and group settings are few and far between in my courses. I haven't been in situations that challenge me to get along with others. I haven't been in situations that ask me to be stern but to be understanding and compromise in roughly 2 years. I get this with Aggies Invent.

I have never been in something that was so challenging, yet so enjoyable. Aggies Invent makes me fantasize of the workforce as operating in this way; if it doesn't, I will start my own business that does. So far, I have participated in two, and I can honestly say that even after trying to relive the experience by writing blogs and telling everyone I know, nothing will ever do the those amazing weekends justice. This sounds sappy and fake, but Aggies Invent has given me opportunities that I will never fully be able to thank you for.

I always wanted to be an engineering student, so I could "be smart" like my brother and my dad. When I hit those physics-type classes in high school, I realized that it was not in the cards for me considering all the tutoring I had to get just to make B's. I know it sounds silly, but that dream subsided because I was never going to get there no matter how much I wanted to understand those courses and like them. This is why Aggies Invent has been such a blessing. It made me understand and believe that I really could design prototypes and make simple ideas realities. And because of the experience I have gotten with Aggies Invent, I will be more marketable and more likely able to work for a company that could put me in a role that could bridge the gap between the management and engineering aspects of a business.

After the Conflict, Development, & Social Entrepreneurship Aggies Invent in October, I left with pure fulfillment because I had helped create something that was going to help people. The only aspect that left me wishing to fill a void was the fact that with our team operating off of it's strengths, there was no time for me to learn how to design the solution. It was not my strong suit, because I had never designed or fabricated anything before. After this sports

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to develop creative ideas, transform them into designs, and make them realities. Aggies Invent has given me a college experience, that could not be replicated elsewhere.
